Una hormiga camina frenéticamente is an installation composed of kinetic, light, and sound artifacts, along with a video sculpture. The installation artifacts operate intermittently and in loops, weaving a luminous-sonorous composition that evolves over time, similar to the cycle of a constellation. They are assemblies constructed from machine remnants, discarded materials, and other unrecognizable objects sourced from informal electronic markets, where they still hold value and are exchanged. We reimagine these objects and divert them from their original functions. Now, they are automatons speaking an unknown language.
Circular movement, and thus the circle or what circulates, is the core of the three-channel video sculpture. We propose to develop these sequences from videos found on the internet, with the common thread being this form/movement. The relationship between channels will always vary because each sequence has a different duration. The circle or rotational movement suggests the idea of a cycle, return, repetition, or routine, but it is also a way to enter a trance and can be seen as a sign of alienation, insanity, and absurdity. Thus, the circle, which for some evokes perfection, might reveal a fissure that compromises its order and exposes its meaninglessness.
